The Weinstein brothers are the enfant terrible of the movie industry. Now it looks like the grumpy and combative brothers are focusing their sights on the denizens of the internet, specifically bit torrent users.
It recently came to the attention of the Weinstein Co. that a very high quality version of Michael Moore’s upcoming documentary Sicko was recently unleashed on the internet. The first appearance of the movie came when two users uploaded the whole film in Youtube. The movie, which was divided into 14 video pieces, has since been removed. The company is now taking the same ideas as the record industry and is aggressively investigating the incident in order to prosecute the uploaders.
The ironic thing about this is that Michael Moore himself is against any kind of copyright laws. It looks like bit torrent will continue to provoke various sectors, much like Moore’s film does.
